Human users are already intrigued by your title; all that’s left to do is entice them to clickthrough with your meta description. A meta description is information, more in depth than your title, that will let users know what to expect when they visit your page. Once the Search Engines crawls the web and comes across the new pages, it then indexes or stores the information in its giant database categorically, to be retrieved later when any search query related to it comes up. These giant database storage facilities is capable of processing large amount of information really quickly. Understanding which ranking factors are relevant to your industry is key to becoming an authoritative domain – especially in the competitive industries of e-commerce, finance and health. Optimizing your content is truly what most of these other tips have been preparing you for.
Poor navigation or information architecture
There are many opportunities for link building on the Internet. There are many forums, blogs or sites where you could place your backlink, but usually, it is not so easy to find them. Link building is often referred to as an integral part of any search engine optimisation campaign. A link to your website is simply your website address listed on some other website, where if you click on the website address listed, you will be forwarded onto your website. In the same way that it takes time to improve your SEO rankings with improvements built up over time, the reverse is true for when you stop optimising your website. At first, your rankings will continue as before but over time you’ll notice that your website rankings will start to drop. Algorithm updates, competitor improvements and loss of links will all negatively impact on your rankings and put you back to square one. If you’re thinking about using a CMS plugin that automatically hyperlinks a certain word every time it appears on your website (i.e. like Wikipedia does), I’d suggest refraining from doing so unless you’re a relatively big brand or if it makes complete sense from a UX perspective.
Include your keyphrases on the page and get credit for them
Links at the top of a page carry more weight than those further down. Google RankBrain is perhaps the greatest invention/best algorithm so far by any search engine. If it’s been just a day or two since you made your website and are not appearing on the SERPs, then you might consider submitting your URL to Google (If you haven’t already done).
If you still don’t appear on the SERPs, relax! Google takes some time to crawl and index your website. Your homepage is the most important and likely your strongest webpage. The link power (AKA link juice) is distributed from the homepage to all other subpages. Ideally, you should distribute the link juice evenly to all other subpages through internal links and easy navigation menus.
For less competitive words, your investment in SEO is more likely to pay off
It is understandable that you may be hesitant and leery of taking the time and effort and making the investment in SEO. If you’re new to SEO, these fears are common. Knowing what to expect from an SEO strategy beforehand can help calm some of those fears. It is important to note that, despite popular belief, having keywords in the domain name does not help your SEO and it won’t help your website reach a global audience. Search engines also rate keywords in header tags more heavily. By including relevant terms in your header tags, you are also boosting your SEO ranking against those keywords. Reap the rewards in the form of traffic and leads long-term
Dealing with a Google algorithm change like the page layout update can feel like falling into an abyss of constant web design changes over and over again. When you invest a few hours a month for the first few months you can acquire enough backlinks that you’ll be able to achieve higher rankings faster. Once you do this, you will only need to invest time in backlink outreach several times a year. Your SEO efforts are really only as good as the experience you’re creating for your target persona. That’s why great SEO needs to work in tandem with great content. Relevance versus authority can be particularly challenging for beginner link builders as they begin the arduous process of securing links
